Secure a safe planet for us, animals and marine life; a safe environment. One hundred thousand marine animals died in 2020 due to plastic waste. Single- use plastic kills nature, animals, fish, and us.
6 students from Campion school, joined under one vision: to contribute in the reduction of single-use plastic. We created a Caretta- Caretta turtle, a protected species in Greece, sculpture made from 100% plastic waste collected by us, Costa Navarino and Ifantis to spread our message: 'Single-Use Plastic Kills'. We collected more than 20 big bags of plastic, whilst cleaning beaches.
We approached Archelon the sea turtle protection society for Caretta-Caretta turtles in Greece, Blue cycle the NGO on marine plastic waste for help and support. Blue Cycle with their equipment helped us re-use the plastic we collected which provided us with the raw materials for Tatiana Panagiotidi (the sculpture artist) to create the art object.
The Caretta-Caretta sculpture will be accessible in Costa Navarino 'Natura Hall' this summer.

Hi, I'm Ioanna, I'm 15 years old. I’m taking part in this project because I feel the need to spread awareness for all the underwater animals whose lives are endangered everyday because of human careless consumption and the waste of plastics. This project will hopefully show people how bad the situation has become.
